Distinctive Unit Insignia
A device of silver color metal and enamel 1 1/8 inches (2.86 cm) in height consisting of two silver railroad track sections in saltire with scarlet between the ties and surmounted at center by a yellow disc with a wavy blue bar across its center, all in front of a black railway wheel with silver details and between two silver scrolls one at top bearing the words "STEEL RAILS" and one at bottom the words "TO VICTORY" in brick red letters.
Brick red and yellow are the colors for the Transportation Corps. The railway wheel in background and the track sections allude to the Group's special mission of railway transportation. The scarlet saltire is suggested by the flag of the unit's home State of Florida and the yellow disc with wavy blue bar symbolizes Jacksonville which straddles the St. Johns River and is the Group's headquarters city and place of activation. Jacksonville's importance as a rail and shipping center is emphasized by the wheel and track sections surrounding the disc and same symbols relate as well to the unit's motto "Steel Rails To Victory."
The distinctive unit insignia was approved on 1 April 1971.
